I think a giant meteor theory or maybe a giant asteroid killed the Dinosaurs because that might have actually happened.

I think it was the meteor, since it landed and ash was blown into the sky, blocking out the sun and it's light, thus preventing the growth of plants. The herbivores starved, and then the carnivores had nothing to eat and then they starved afterwards. I think

I agree with you. Once upon a time, There were Dinosaurs. They got hit meteorites and died. THE END. As you can see, In Arizona a meteor crashed and made a big mark. THE END

Oldschool41 : That is more accurate to say. There is no supported hypothesis stating that one meteor killed them in one event. Today, kids here meteor and completely ignore the rest. That event is believed to be what caused the most recent Ice Age, which made colossal sized reptiles the least survivable type of creatures with them being ectotherms.

Well if I had answered this question two days ago the answer might have been different. But the other night I watched "The Day After Tomorrow" So I'm going to have to say that the climate shifted and they couldn't handle it. But I would also go with that a meteor hit earth and killed most of them off. (as you know there are spices that are decedent from dinosaurs still around.) Like most things in this world, sadly we will probably never know the actual truth because none of us were there.

volacanoes, tsunamis, and meteorite shower. as you can see, i think a huge meteor shower came destroying the land, some hit the oceons making giant waves. and it was said the volcanoes erupted too.

or maybe the moon had a little bump with the earth ............

oh well after that a new era started, and then two more followed and now i belive we are in the 5th era this worlds has ever had.

or the triceratop meat had so much protein and the dinosaurs got so fat  they started farting like crazy, causing majorly bad global warming, and the terrible stench was so horrible it gave them heart attacks. gee, told you global warming was bogus, and so was protein, and triceretop meat, and farting.

Well, learning in my science class, apparently a meteor crashed into the earth, and destroyed everything. The only apparent things that survived were the sea creatures. They say that crocodiles and alligators, along with sharks and turtles, date back to the Jurassic era. Although I wonder how we came to be humans. We obviously evolved from gorillas, but how did the gorillas get on the earth after the meteor struck? Its all very confusing to me.

Oh please, of course I would listen to the meteor theory. Not because of my teacher, nor you guys, but this-

yeah, this.

The Chicxulub crater has pretty much confirmed that dinosaurs, were in fact, killed by a giant thing of space rock hurtling down at earth at enormous speeds. Or, an asteroid.

mscoral : A few misconceptions that you have are what is making this confusing. First, the meteor theory does not state that the meteor itself killed everything. Yeah, the impact killed a lot, but far from everything. After the impact, it caused a thick cloud of sediment to pretty much blanket the world, blocking most of the sunlight. This was a huge climate change that changed the dominance of species. In a world that became freezing cold with little sun, colossal sized ectothermic reptiles are no longer the best adapted to survive. Smaller creatures that are endotherms (like mammals) were now the ones best suited to survive.

As for your comment about where humans came from, that is a huge misconception. Despite what that terrible evolution chart implies, it does NOT state that we came from gorillas. People think that we evolved from modern day chimps and gorillas. That is far from it. That actually implies that modern day chimps and gorillas are behind us, and they will catch up. That is in no way how evolution works.

They were already on the way out - plants were changing.  I read somewhere that pollen based plant life was taking over and somehow this didn't agree with the herbivore dinosaurs.  Some archeologist reckons that herbivores wouldn't have been able to adapt.  This would have a knock on effect with the carnivores (who'd evolved to feed on the herbivores).  But they had a good run.  We've been around in this form for what - a few hundred thousand years?  The dinos were around for a few hundred million.  Not bad.  If we rack up a mill, we'll be doing well.

rcarter2 : One of the possible places the meteor hit was the Gulf of Mexico area, The water and air Tempature's were just right creating multiple extremely massive hurricanes known as hypercaines These are over 5x bigger than a usual hurricane, Which of course then had the dramatic results on the atmosphere etc etc, So yeah you were completely correct but just didn't state that subject or possibly know about it.
