Requiem for a Dream was the most depressing movie I've ever seen. I've only seen it once and I can't bring myself to watching it again. There's only 4 movies in my lifetime that have ever made me bust out in tears, and this was one of them.( the other 3 being Titanic...at the theaters with everyone else around me weeping, Saving Private Ryan..... when Tom Hanks tells Matt Damon to "earn this.. earn it", and Donnie Darko... when Donnie's about to die and He says "I hope when the world ends, I can breathe a sigh of relief, because there will be so much to look forward to"..... whew, makes me tear up just typing that).

Oh yeah.. Anyways, I'd like to know if anyone's seen Requiem for a Dream and what they think about it. The music towards the end of the film is epic and the scenes during the score are the most depressing out of the whole movie.

I actually watched that movie two nights ago, for the second time now. It disturbed me a lot more, because I was really focusing on the movie this time. I was also really stoned so it was making me feel super uneasy, emotional and almost sick to my stomach to watch the ending scenes.

I think all the actors do amazing jobs playing their roles, it must've been difficult to go in to work each day on the set, and get in to the role of playing someone who has gone totally nuts and hit rock bottom. You can tell that some of them had to lose a lot of weight for their roles as well.

Overall I think it is very powerful because it is so shocking. The way it is filmed and timed with the music (especially the repeating sound effects and voices in the background) also helps to play up how disturbing, stressful, and inescapably awful their lives have become. When I was listening to the soundtrack at the end I could not take my eyes away from the screen.

Although not necessarily realistic, it does reflect the worst possible scenario for each drug that the characters are abusing. It will stay in your mind for a while after you watch it.
