I'll get a message from someone I've been talking to from PMs and the ending message that I get which I don't reply to for whatever reason, I leave as read. Then days or weeks later I get a PM which is the same PM only it's been automatically marked as unread (not by me); what is this, it's happened at least 8 times now?

Has anyone else had this happen, or know why it does this?

I know there's an exploit which some people use to pull pranks, although it's possible someone really wanted you to respond to it and pressed mark as unread in their own sent folder.

I think the PM box just picks up all messages in a certain order.

When someone marks a message as unread it goes to the very top of the list in terms of how it appears on the front page, but stays in the same place date wise.

What do we do about PM notifications that don't go away? I was PMing with someone and got 2 msgs at once. I was only able to read the most recent. So my notice bar at the top always says "1 NEW from ____ at ___ time," but I cannot read this message in my inbox (it doesn't exist) and therefore have no way of getting rid of the notice. It is extremely annoying. Any way of just clearing the Notifications bar? Thanks

I don't know why there would be a notification of a PM that doesn't exist, but you could click the link towards the top of your PM inbox that says Mark All As Read. That will probably get rid of the notification.
