It's more than likely that everyone already heard the news, infact I'm willing to bet that almost every news site you'll see somewhere on the front you'll see something on this (for those who live in the usa anyway and for march 4th).

He's been one of the most successful players in the NFL (played for what, 17 years?) and it's really to bad to see him leave, especially the fact that he's got a lot of strength and talent left in his arm and could easily play a couple more years.

Anyway, sad day for us Packer fans
It's been fun (and frusterating) watching him play.

He ended his career on a positive note. He was one of the best QB's of all time and wanted to go out strong to prove it. Players can only take so much before they can't take any more. But especially for Packers fans, you guys really need another starter.

Just remember how great a player Favre was. He's in the top five for best of all time and he has multiple records now. It was his time.

Nobody ever doubted that he's one of the greatest, but people actually will sometimes put Tom Brady over him! That really bugs me.

Tom Brady is definitely not better than Favre. It's just the way it is.

I know, I hate the Pats and everyone on their team. Brady is part of a cheating system and deserves less credit than he gets. Favre is in the top 5 of all time because HE was great; Brady has to be aided by a cheating coach to be that good.

Eh, the Patriots were just way too confident and thought they were automatically going to win that super bowl.

Back to the original topic...Favre is easily a Hall of Fame QB, and my dad and brother still think Brady is better despite the whole Spygate scandal. Something obviously happened that we aren't being told. Roger Goodell burned all of the evidence of the Pats spying on other teams. He's going to get grilled by Arlen Specter in front of an entire senate committee and eventually have to confess and explain everything. There was no scandal involving the Packers. Favre wasn't part of that kind of thing.

This is pretty cool, IGN has a special video game feature on Brett Favre and all the games he made appearances on and games he was on the cover of:

http://sports.ign.com/articles/858/858013p1.html

Being in the NFL for 17 years would lead you to assume he'd be in a lot of football games, lol.

I have this one old game on the N64 where he's on the cover. It's for the 1997 season, I think. They won the Super Bowl the season before

I know he was on the cover of a few Game Day's for the playstation, not sure if the 'Game Day' series was ever for the N64 but if it was, that's probably the game then.

It was a quarterback club game. I still have it. He's also the best QB in my Madden 64 game by far.

That's a real shame... I remember when Elway took us Broncos to the top but after he left things went sour.

Usually when a team loses/trades a player they experience some big changes, and more times than not, in a bad way. Just look back when the red sox (I know, 2 different sports...) kept trading team members left and right before '04. Luckily they finally stuck with some people that got the team to finally win.
