I would recommend starting out with the Flash basics, get to know the interface and tools. Then when you feel a bit more comfortable try looking for tutorials on how to create a flash games. The hardest part is keeping it all in your mind, cause once you stop working with Flash for a while you'll most likely have to relearn it all over again like I need to do

You should make simple animations first, and work you way up. You don't need a 10,000 frame project to start off with. Make animated icons and stuff.

well, i took a summer course to learn but I don't think it's necessary. also you need flash. I recommend you just try messing around with different features, like motion tweens (as i believe they're called), as those are the best for making simple animations. i suggest that when you draw things, you make every part separate so they can move independatly (it's a little more work but it makes tweens easier)
