After constantly applying everywhere, waiting for them to "Contact me within 4 business days", and getting emails about available jobs that are seventeen states away from me, I feel like there's no chance in hell I'm going to get a job. I've applied for everything (And no, McDonald's does not have any open jobs which is friggin sad). I've applied to Price Rite, Game Crazy, Game Stop, Borders, Dunkin Donuts, The Pawtucket Public Library (Stock shelves), I've even put a full application into the city registry (which my application is sent to EVERY job I'm qualified for) and still I have nothing! I've been doing this since I was 14 and a half, and now I'm 16! This is messed up! Do you guys think it's because of the economy being in the s***ter? That's what I think it is, me nor any of my friends can find a job ANYWHERE in this s*** hole of a corrupted state. We're the only state in the entire country inching toward a depression (We're in a heavily deep recession right now). Bread is $6 a loaf, gas is over $100 a barrel, and my wallet is a rusty quarter and an expired gift card. I'm just about to do online surveys that pay me cash, at least I'll get paid for that!

Sounds bad..
Maybe there just isnt any work. But dont forget your only 16, and have been trying since you were 14.5. My first 'real' job, I got working with my Dad on a pig farm, that was when I was about 18 or 19. From there I also worked in a powder coating place (if you computer chair is metal, and painted.. THATS not paint, its powder coating (ask for more info if you want, its an interesting process)), then I got fired from there, got a job with my brother in a diecasting factory (making metal parts for like car engines, tools, ect) for a month untill I left for uni. Then I got a job at McDonalds. Ofcourse there was doing the odd website here, and odd one there, but thats not a real job (in my case).

This may seem like a bunch of useless text, but the truth is, people really dont want to employ younger people. And they do this for many reasons.
1. The younger people will eventualy go back to school, thus cant work so why bother even paying to train them in the firstplace.
2. Younger people arnt usualy as committed to a job, as say, someone whos older, dosnt live at home and actually NEEDS the money.
3. Younger people may not be physicly stable enough for the job, kinda refers to 2 a little.
4. TEENAGERS GO THROUGH PUBERTY AND EMPLOYERS DONT WANT PEOPLE WITH RANDOM MOOD SWINGS WORKING IN A KNIFE SHOP, GUN SHOP.. ECT.. ECT

Just to name a few.. or all I can think of at the moment .
Dont think its anything aginst you, keep at it and you'll find something. Apply at supermarkets (grocery stores.. what ever you's call them). Maybe even for night stock (Here, thats where people come in at night after the store is closed and stock all the shelves).

Thanks guys . In the meantime, I'm taking surveys for money (I know it won't get much, but it's enough money for me...) And the delivery thing is 8 weeks. So, I'm going to take surveys until I reach maybe 10,000 (Which I'll probably get 1,000 of) and then I won't be broke

Dont give up, where i live you have to be 16 and a half you even be considered for employment, but those jobs are not even that great. Just remember the effort you put in the more you will get back in the end.

I want to work, I will work 30 hours, but the opportunity to work is slim to none. I am eager to work but there's nowhere hiring.

As a friend of mine always says, and I quote "Its always easier to get a job if you already have a job."

Not sure why this is, but I seen it personally. I didnt get my first job until I was 20. I tried EVERYWHERE. Then when I finally did it was working at a movie rental place and I only got the job really because my stepdad knew the manager. But when the time came to move on from there, the very next place I applied at practically hired me on the spot and I have been working there over a year now.

Alek - Good luck in your job search. I agree with you, RI's economy is HORRIBLE, and I too, hate the fact that there are no jobs open here (i've been looking).

As for saving up money...
I hear rust is getting pretty valuable.

Hahaha, I know. The limit of jobs is getting to the point where 50 year-old people are working at McDonald's the rest of their lives xD

Note: To reduce clutter, I will remove the threads I have made that have not gotten any replies in a long time. This is one of them, and the 3,000,000 view celebration is outdated now.
