Well I had my first official XC (Cross country) meet and all in all it went pretty good. I had no fun at all because it was 105 degrees without the humidity calculated in and it was sunny as well. I was drenched in sweat but I still had a good time. I had under 27 minutes which is good for me and I beat my team mates. All in all I think I did good. I just thought I would let you all know.

legacyme3 : Ya that is what high schoolers run, well at least in my state they do. I know it is pretty short compared to 10k but some of our meets are 6 to 6.5. I am not gunna lie I usually walk some on that stuff, it is just too far.

Don't worry, when I did my 1st 5k, I was so slow. I walked myself for part of it.

It gets better though, just keep plugging away. It's a long road but you can be really good.

legacyme3 : What was your worst time? Just out of curiosity because I think that my very worst. (Last year, the first year I have done it.) was around 40. I have gotten so much better since those times last year. I want to be really good. I just have low will power so I tend to doubt myself, which I don't need while running.

A fellow cross country runner! Congratulations on your first official meet. That one is always the worst. Like legacyme3 said. You just gotta keep at it, and it gets easier. I remember my first race. I ended up placing last with a time of 35 minutes. But exactly one week later, I ran the next meet 10 minutes faster. By the end of that year, I was down to 23 minutes on average. That jump got me most improved though . My prime was my senior year though. I got my time down to an average of around 19:35, and my fastest race was 18:77. But I still never made the varsity team at my high school. The slowest varsity runner we had while I was in school usually ran below 18:30. Our fastest runner was always in the high 16- low 17 minutes. He was insane.

I usually run 6 miles a run, but since I am not doing it to improve my time, I don't really get faster after a a point. If I ran a 5K now, I think that I would be around 22 minutes again, which was my average time my sophomore year. If I wanted to get back to my senior year speed, I would have to run with the intent of bettering my time every run. You are a runner, so you know how that goes.
