Whenever I press ESC to open up the settings, I cannot move my mouse pointer. I could use TAB to go to the config screen but then it is helpless.

Help please .

Hmm... have you tried using the video resolution to get to the controls? Hit esc, the use the arrow keys to navigate to config then video, then set the video resolution to full screen. That should enable the mouse and for you to set the controls (then again I've done that for my controllers as well)

You'd also wanna' check this out just in case:
