I would normally say electric guitar, not because its what I play but because it is an exceptionally diverse instrument. A problem, for me, with a lot of instruments is that the tonal ranges are limited to an octave to two octaves, whereas an electric guitar can easily cover up to 12 octaves, depending on how it is tuned. As well, depending on the type of electric guitar, its pickups, and the amplifier, you could theoretically get every single sound under the sun (especially with pedals). It is a generally easy to transport instrument as well. However, just to be different, i will not say it for once...

I ultimately will have to say the organ though because of not only a good organ having a minimum of 5 solid octaves of pure power, but it is a very reliable instrument. An electric guitar requires much more maintenance, and if the player uses valve amplifiers much more expensive to maintain top tonal quality.

I'm partial to the flute, as that's what I play in band as well as jazz band, so.. 
But without my bias, I'd say my favorites are electric keyboards (I have an old Casio keyboard which I love to pieces) and all of the saxophones, soprano, alto, tenor, and so on, I wish I had talent with saxophones, but alas I do not.
