I have a 2gb sd card for the Wii and I have been trying to find out what the problem is.  When I put it in my computer, it does not respond, but when I put it in my Wii, it reads it, but when I click on the sd icon on the wii menu, it would say "The device inserted in the SD Card Slot cannot be read."  I do not understand what is the problem. It won't recognize it on both of them, obviously.  It is in raw format and whats worse is that it tells me the used space and the free space.  Used space: 0 bytes.  Free Space: 0 bytes.  What the heck does that mean? There are a lot of possibilities that I think could have done this.

Did Nintendo cancel the cards? (could they) Did I do something to change the format?  Is it because I deleted everything on my SD card? (recovery)

If you have any solutions to what happened or how I can fix this, let me know.

I think the SD card you have is damaged. My broken flash drive does the same thing. When you put it in your computer, open up My Computer, right-click on the drive for the SD card, and click "Format."

If you format it, that might fix the problem. If the method I explained doesn't work, you might be able to use Command Prompt to do it. Don't experiment on your own too much or you could accidentally format your hard drive or do other damage. If formatting doesn't solve it, then the card is probably dead. You'll have to get a new one.

Try switching the plastic switch on the side of the sd card it might just be write protect. If that doesn't work then try formatting it to default setting. Also if that doesn't work than your SD card could be corrupt. Try using and SDHC card (above 2gb)

hackerman :  It is not write protected and I cannot format it.  It might be corrupted.
theclever1 :  You might be right about being damaged.  I can't go get another one.  It costed me about $20.

The same thing happened to me with my Nintendo DSi on a four gigabyte card. But I couldn't do anything. I guess that the best solution is to get a new SD card.
