U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000
Federal budget: $3,820,000,000,000
New debt: $1,650,000,000,000
National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
Recent budget cut: $38,500,000,000

Most people glaze over such numbers so:
Annual family income: $21,700
Money the family spent: $38,200
New debt on the credit card: $16,500
Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
Total budget cuts: $385

This is an impossible way for a family to survive. Bankruptcy is the only way out. This family is headed for complete failure. However, it's not a family. It's a country. Which means even more is at stake if Washington doesn't get its act together.

Bad America.

Aren't families supposed to know not to take huge loans they know they can't pay?

legacyme3 : the US isn't all that different than a family.... it's credit limit is just higher than a normal family

But the constant deficit spending is catching up....

Realistically, this family should cut it's spending and get more jobs (ie, build more export products people want).

Together the family is a mess, but if the 11 year old boy gets a job on the local farm it will help.

And you know what's stopping America from getting it together? Politics. It just seems to get in the way of everything. Well, politicians rather. Go Democracy!

This is why I don't like too much government. All it knows how to do is spend and make it hard for the average family. We are starting to turn away from our standing as a republic and more to socialism.

Hoochman : america is no way socialist.west europe is socialist, but barely, and yet far more so than usa.and the crysis originated in the usa. It is eviden that a system where buissiness has an unpreportianate representation and no restrictions, that in the good times the poor will have little,in bad times the poor will have negative,as in debt.

thenumberone : I know we disagree everywhere on here but if you really think businesses run their operations without restriction in the U.S., then you sir are clearly not paying any attention.

The reason capitalism works is because of the government's interaction with private and public firms.  Something simple as government's mandated minimum wage affects everything around us.  That's one example.  I could name ten more without even trying.

The government will support big business because big business pays the government.  Why else do democrats flock to large corporations and beg for union support?  Taxes are restrictions on business.  Everything is a restriction on business.

warmaker : lol:"i know we disagree everywhere here"
Thats an awesome truth.
They certainly have next to no restrictions.they do things that would get you arrested here.
And no restrictions on buisines is a restriction on people because buisines becomes stronger than the citizens.
I have to point out that tax rates are far higher in europe, yet europe makes more gdp than america, the eu makes more than america and that is not even all of europe,so undisputably more restrictions dont kill buissiness.
France makes a fortune off wine, italy of cars,uk off technology patents, spain and belgium off agricultur, germany off tech, the economys still thrive.look at russia, the corporations rule the entire nation.they are over double the population of the uk.they have huge oil reserves,a massive landmass.yet britain makes far more money.

governments don't make money.... they take it from businesses Without businesses to make money then governments wouldn't earn as much as they do.

Also, your comparison of GDP isn't exactly fair. The EU represent about 40% more people than the US.... obviously you would expect it to have a higher GDP.

I went to usdebtclock.org to see if I could find some specifics, but the constantly changing numbers left me (mentally) dizzy. Anyway, isn't there anyone out there actually striving to remain fiscally responsible and still being punished by stupid decisions of the masses? I'm sorry. I just wanted a vent a little.
