I haven't actually played the Godfather series...yet. Although I kinda want to. Is it like GTA style, or what?

I've played the mafia game for PS3 on a friends console, didn't appeal to me much. :|

I had both,1 for ps2,and 2 i have on ps3. 2 was far better.bad things about it were:
Online both sucked and was fairely pointless.
You couldnt travel to other citys once you completed the game.
There was no one(apart from the cops)to fight after you captured all turf.
The story was dumb
You had to kill enemy gang members in a certain way or they'd just go to hospital.
Good things are: you can hire a gang,with skills like bomber,bruiser,safecracker,medic etc etc.
You can upgrade things for you like health,weapon accuracy etc.
You can upgrade the same stuff for your crew as well as choosing there guns.
You can send your crew/family to capture or bomb an enemy buissiness.
You get a bonus for capturing all of a buissiness type,like extra ammo,this meant you could play tacticaly,destroying a rivals monopoly(or bombing it to close for repairs)so theyd be weakend.
There is something imensley fun about driving old cars at top speed.
The guns are great fun,tommy gun ftw!
The weapon/gun/fist finisher moves are gorey,brutal,and completely awesome!you can use different melee weapons too which is cool.
Hiring muscle to protect turf.
Bribing cops to turn a blind eye to petty crimes.
Bribe a chief to turna blind eye to EVERYTHING.
Doing favours for people(e.g politicians,cops)which,in return gave you favours.you could have an enemy familly member arrested,have a injured crew member let outa hospital etc.
You can rob banks,great fun.
You have to beat up buissines owners to get them to pay you protection money,its funny smashing there head into there own tv =p
Too much though and they wont pay no matter what.
pi0x : its not much like gta.out of gta iv and godfather 2 i far preffered godfather 2.

big fat cat : personaly i loved mafia 1, the new mafia 2 sucked.

So yeh,mafia 2 sucked,i love the godfather games,theyre so unique.

thenumberone : I have the second game for PS3 as well. Online is ok, but pointless unless u really care to up ur character. I know the first Godfather game originally for PS2 then Xbox (original) was a a success and awesome game, then it was put on the 360, and then later God Father Don's edition which is the first game but with more content was ported to PS3. Wii as well but without extra content by the name Black Hand edition.

Mafia II interests me as a fun play-through single player game though. Too bad about Godfather 3. Though I guess it is sort of time to call it quits.

UserMike : oh yeh,the campaign is great fun,iv completed about 3 times,theres no game like it,thats the saddest part about them discontinuing it.
For me,mafia 2 seemed boring,unimaginative and unrealistic,nothing like the 1st. To each his own i guess

thenumberone : I honestly wanted to make or poll or something and send it to the company showing how many people liked godfather 2. Though I have no idea how to really go about doing all that lol. But one thing that really pissed me off is I have heard rumors that theirs gonna be a mafia 3 and the second game sucked so bad that I instantly deleted it after I wasted my psp points/money on buying it just to try it out (it was cheaper then buying it at eb games or some other store) after only playing for a little bit

Seimika : i played the demo on ps3 and took an instant dislike to it,godfather outclassed it.

thenumberone : thus my reason for being pissed there making a possible 3rd one no? lol but what do you think? Should I try and start up a poll or something?

Seimika : while i would be imesurably happy if you were to succeed,from a realistic point of view you would need around 20,000 signatures minimum to rouse there interests.if thats something you think you can achieve then by all means,go for it,id sign.
I havd seen others try and fail though.i remember dungeon keeper three being benched,a signed a petition for that but,no luck.
