Just curious to see how many people here are training in martial arts.

I've previously studied Ninjutsu, and am currently studying Kung Fu San Soo.

The Kung Fu has been a big character development for me. How has your training benefited you?

Yeah, I was trained in Taekwondo, for around 2 or 3 years. I'm a green belt, but I had to stop because I moved to a different town.

It benefited me by giving me defensive reflexes, and that's pretty much it.

I train in wing tsun, a type of fung fu.  I enjoy it because I like close combat.  There's nothing like getting inside someone's personal space to deliver a tremendous amount of withering strikes.  I don't know if your kung fu teaches chi sao but I'm on year five of it.  I'm starting to understand it a little.  It takes so much training and it's difficult.

Keep at it.  Martial arts are fun.

warmaker : I have a different approach to the art, but yeah, it's fun. The way I see it is that the San Soo practitioner is a person who moves decisively, eliminating the threat as quickly and effectively as possible. In this response, it is very easy to severely injure or kill an attacker. Therefor, a fighter must determine if the response justifies the offense. In other words, does the opponent merely insult you or do they represent a possible threat of injury or death? Avoidance is always a perfect alternative to violence. Human life should be valued over all.

The building of human character and respect for human life is emphasized by Grandmaster Woo's statement:

"The art of Kung-Fu San Soo lies not in victory or defeat, but in the building of human character."

Chi Sao isn't a part of San Soo, but actually San Soo is comprised of 5 families.:
-Tsoi Ga
-Li Ga
-Hoi Ga
-Fut Ga
-Hung Ga

I don't train in it, but I know a couple basics, and know how to defend myself, although I never use it unless my life would be in serious danger. Why fight when you can take it like a man, and avoid conflict?
