First and foremost! This thread is in entertainment for a reason. The GSL is basically the host for the country renowned E-sport that holds major tournaments for the videogame Starcraft. Starcraft is a videogame, yes. However, it's treated as a sport. Therefore; this thread is not designed to talk about the videogame Starcraft 2. Instead, it's designed for the team discussion, matchup history, epic battles, and so forth. THIS THREAD, AGAIN, IS NOT DISCUSSING STARCRAFT 2.

What is the GSL?

GSL stands for Global Starcraft League. Held in Korea, the country was first in making a videogame an official E-sport. And EVERYONE there is bonkers for the game. The GSL holds tournaments for grand prizes for Millions of USD for the champion.

WOAH WOAH WOAH, you said the winners get paid millions of dollars per season. WHO Sponsors this?

Many companies that hold computer parts do. Intel, Coolermaster, Blizzard Entertainment, and more. In Korea, it's serious business to sponsor for them

Where can I watch?

You can watch the GSL, in english here: http://www.gomtv.net/

You can watch all of the videos in SD, but you have to purchase a season ticket to watch in HD and watch Live as well. Reasonable prices.

I don't know WHAT in the world is going on.

That, thankfully, is covered by the commentators. It's a sport. Played by the best of the best all around the world. Sometimes you don't know what happened and thankfully it's covered in English by the english hosts. Even if you never played Starcraft, it's basically explained to you.

A videogame Sport? Sounds...boring

You can also say the same about every other sport out there. It really needs to tickle your fancy first before you can latch on and hop on an amazing ride. But in this case; there are GUARANTEED epic moments at GSL. Massive armies colliding, very good plays, and most of all, breakdowns from players who lose. Yes, you will see people cry when they lose. Look forward to seeing those tears!

...I'm still not interested
Want an epic moment then? Alright then!

Honestly, a fan of the game or not. This show is AMAZING! Been watching ever since I was linked to the site. Huge fan of "Cute", the 11 year old Korean that seriously hurts people.

Believe me there are some damn good players who are "Home" to the GSL. Each of them has many personalities. Most of them adopted from Anime and K-pop characters.

I'm being serious:

septembern :

I remember the one time where MMA turned super sayan 4 when he met this kawaii girl at the GSL and totally owned those baka Americans (Like idra lol) while in the end had an enjoyable dinner (Made by said girl) while not totally looking at her breasts and blushing.

Of course, though. That never happened. And so I must ask this question:

Why is this here?
