This will just be a breif discussion on how to play LAN games over hamachi. First off, what is hamachi??
Hamachi is a program designed to allow VPN (virtual private networks) online. (Basically, creating LAN over WAN) I belive it was originaly ment for business, but has be much used in the gaming community.

The instructions for download are pretty simple to follow. When you install, just install hamachi free edition.

Where can I play all my vizzed friends??
After running the tutorial you should be able to join networks. The vizzed network is as follows.
Name : InsaneParadox.com
Pass : *PM Myself or IceWave04*

Why?

Im in this ALMOST all the time. Basically i own it... and usually im the only one there. If anyone wants to use Hamachi to play games ect, going there and asking is the best place to play against other vizzed members. Some day, we may even PAY for it! zOMG!

You should change the password to "Pm Myself or Icewave04".

But uh... what games does anyone play that is LAN but not online?

Well stuff like this is usually used for servers like RTS' like AOE III, or UT2k4. But it can be used for Private game servers like WoW or RO.

This is usually used to host such servers without the use of a Static IP when you're under and router, and without port forwarding.

Really? I've only heard of people using Hamachi for, as I said, games where they don't feel like doing the entire router Static Ip set-up dooberry, so Hamachi makes it a Lan, which makes it so none of that is needed.

Uhh this is horrible...

Hamachi is as i described LAN over WAN.

It will set up your network to allow the LAN play functions of games work on the internet.

For example. With Hamachi Neojazex and i (sometimes) play Local Area Netowkr games. Because we are both logged into this Hamachi we are _networked_ literally. Its like having a cable between our computers, but over the internet. Very useful program. Useful because most games wont check for CD Key on LAN so the same key can be used.

Hamachi isnt just for games though. Think of anything you can do on a network, but cant on the internet!! (As folder sharing, ect ect)

Folder sharing can be done on some P2P services.

Or Windows Live Messenger .

But this is a direct connection and more secure than P2P (atleast i think it is) and unlike WLM... it uses the base network setup stuff.. for example.. i was on with Paul (a member whos alias ive forgotten :) and he was searching through all my shared folders... thank god he wasnt downloading my music off me (as its shared too )

So this is like making your own server for an online game for a specific group? (I don't really follow)

If so, (2 points for me!) then they should make something like this for ps2 games that had the servers shut off.

Ben, I found out that they made an online Xenosaga game (has a chatroom for fans)

One of the games that seems to have no server shutdown in sight is Champions of Norrath.

Hamachi allows you to access stuff like this, mainly game servers, etc, through your LAN, or, LOCAL Access Network. In other words, it's like the person is right next to you with a cord in his computer connecting to yours. It's usually used for stuff like online RTS games when the game CD key is illegal and crap. Can also be used to host various servers without messing around with a Router if you have one. Though the users of your hosted server would need Hamachi as well.

Or a smaller example is, hamatchi is software that creates a local area network (LAN) but accross the interent.

Yes, some games don't have online play so this comes in handy. Maybe someone should mention the games you guys play? I would hate to join to find out I have none of the games.

Me? I would play dota, war 3, starcraft broodwar, Lords of magic, diablo 2 LOD, diablo, Baulders Gate, 1,2 iceland dale, Rainbow 6 las Vegas, Neverwinter Nights 1,2.

That about sums it up.

Holy fishsticks! You have Lords of Magic?! Wow. I'm not the only one who has an uber-old game thats really weird and makes no sense and is epic hard to beat.
