   Hello one and all.
I have recently been playing Pokemon Fire Red on my Macbook using Visualboy Advance.

Now, it has been working great, battles run smooth, my pokemon are epic...and then I tried a hack...or two. The only things I did were modify an item or two in the shop, rather unobtainable ones (Auroraticket and Mysticticket to be exact). and i saved my game. Things seemed to be ok. Then I come back this morning to play for a bit and then I get a lovely error...

Basically when I went to start up my game it seemed to work fine, then when it got to the 'previously on your quest...' screens it froze after skipping past them, leaving me with a black screen i cannot get out of. This freezing error  of sorts also occured when I made it into a pokemart to purchase an antidote. The error would also occur sometimes when the 'previously...' screens went away and it got to the map and I encountered a pokemon or a trainer battle.

WHAT DO I DO!?!?!?!!?

I really don't want to start over my game...because then Misty's starmie would torture me again and again and again...and its humiliating.

I think your hack attempt is the source of the problem, so I'll send this to Game Design/RPG Maker/Rom Hacking Forum. You're probably more likely to find help there.

My best advice is to reset your rom back to how it was before your hack attempt. I usually keep backups of basic roms in case something happens. Everytime I change anything, even if it's only a sprite, I make a backup.

Since I don't know you all that well, I'm going to assume you didn't keep a backup of the rom, I'd suggest grabbing a new ROM of fire red.
