IF YOU ARE GUNNA DO WHATEVER YOU WANT TO ANYHOW, AND THATS HOW THE USA SHOULD BE, THEN BY ALL MEANS LEGALIZE AND TAX IT. KILL 2 BIRDS WITH ONE STONE. WHY SHOULD SOMEONE HAVE TO SUFFER JAILTIME BECAUSE OF SOMR PLANT THAT HAS SOME "EFFECTS" WHEN YOU SET IT ON FIRE. SHOOT, LEGALIZE EVERYTHING, BUT PUT AGE RESTRICTIONS ON IT, AND SEE HOW THAT WORKS. IT SEEMS TO WORK IN EUROPE AND ALL THAT. SO LETS TAKE A PAGE OUT OF THEIR BOOK FOR A CHANGE.

In some ideas, yeah weed can be legalized for medical reasons, and just for that. Other than that, I don't really see any reason why it should be legalized.

Saying that it should be legalized just makes people say that I say it just cause I'm a stoner, which I am, but that's not the only reason, the health benefits, and other things should make it legal anyway.

No reason to have marijuana illegal. THC is neither toxic nor dangerous. Legalising it would allow the government to profit by taxing it, and would save smokers money as they would have far cheaper avenues of acquiring marijuana than funding a potentially violent gang. Also the stuff has medicinal properties.

Marijuana should be offered to all patients undergoing any sort of unpleasant medical procedure.

So, I am going to add something to a previous post. I have found out that year, during election season, the state of Washington is going to hold a ballet to see if Weed will be legalized in the state of Washington. Huh. Don't know how to feel about this.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this, so my bad If anyone did. In 1920 The U.S banned alcohol The ban was mandated by the 18th Amendment, and due to this amendment beer, wine and hard liquor was abolished. However many Americans still continued to drink by often making their own alcohol or buying it from the black market. This led to two different problems, the first being that many Americans died of alcohol poisoning due to the fact that people were putting to much alcohol in the....alcohole. Another problem is that  you had violent crime soared as the desperation to get alcohol and gangs and loan sharks prospered. However when F.D.R overturned the amendment and as a result violent crime drastically decreased and the government was making a great deal of money taxing the beers and wines etc. This had to have helped get America out of the Great Depression somewhat as it produced a lively source of income. As you can tell 2012 America, is roughly in the SAME EXACT position as it was 98 years ago with Europe collapsing and all that.

mlb789: The biggest reason weed is labeled as a gateway drug is because the people dealing the weed introduce the buyers to the heavier drugs that they're selling. If weed was legalized, there would be no need to buy from the dealers, thus getting rid of the biggest reason people get into heavy drugs.

Well,  I don't smoke weed but I think it should be legalized for the sake of the economy. Any government that controls and regulate would be making quite the profit! Not to mention there would be more jobs.

I think it's absolutely crazy that we have a simple plant illegal. This plant is a controlled substance that should be regulated, taxed, and put in a free market the same way as alcohol. Coming from a state where access to the drug is as easy as going to 7-11, I have seen the effects of what it can do to a community, and It couldn't be better. Once the Feds get their heads out their asses and realize how much cash we could be making off this export, only then will we get out of this economic slump.

Also, we should seriously think about how much we can sell mj to the intergalactic black market for. THAT is some serious cash cow.

I really don't think we need to legalize this right now. Now before you all beat me up I just want to let you no some facts. First of all, the reason it is not legalized now is because the government cant find out a way to privately sell it. Weed is easy to grow and at the same time if it is legal the government wants to make a profit because they know it is sent out to the public they will loss a lot in many different ways. Maybe alcohol and cigarette companies might lose profit  however fast food would sky-rocket ha ha. Anyway doing this right now in an economy that is not getting any better, would not be acceptable as you think. Like I said the government is going to want to make money out of it to make profit in order to save themselves form debt.

13irdo0 : What do you mean they can't figure out a way to privately sell it? They all ready have the business model setup from alcohol and tobacco. Make a license to sell  required by any business or outfit wanting to sell marijuana products. Not sure about how these products are taxed in U.S.A but here in Canada the government makes a ton of money off of taxing these items. Roughly 75% of the cost of cigarettes are taxes. They say it is to try and promote people quitting but we all know they are just taking more money from people that are addicted to the products they sell them ... that's for another debate tho lol.

No I don't think weed should be legalized, because it can mess up your brain a lot. Also I think that achol do less damage than weed. I should check on google to see which one do more damage.
