I think this was a silly idea to begin with.  Children always have, and always will, want to take part in 'adult' things that aren't meant for them.  So by this rationale we as a society would have to consider banning everything not meant for children.  Granted there are some misguided folks out there who have always been trying to do this, but it is not American and will never happen.  Teach your children right from wrong, teach them the value of education, teach them how to treat and respect others and their world, and set them loose.  What more can you (or should you) do?
