My phone went into the water and now it is messed up.  I am going to put it in the sun all day to see if it will dry it up and hopefully make it work.  I did this with my other phone and it worked.  I hope it works for this phone.  If you have any solutions on an easier or better way of making this work, let me know and thank you for helping.

Well dropping a phone in the water makes a very low chance of recovery.

I doubt it's going to recover after having a "bath"
But if you want to dry it sooner, I suggest you to use a hair dryer, but not on maximum. A friend spilt tea on her PC keyboard, and she used a hair dryer, and it still works fine. But I'm not sure about your phone.

Well try to remove cover if possible until you see the green circuit and put down the sun, and from time to time rotate it. This should solve I think.

The best idea I have found is to put the phone in a Ziploc bag of dry rice. The rice will absorb any and all moisture that leaves the phone. My dad did this to save his iPod nano a couple years ago.

My dad did something similar to a camera that costed a few hundred dollars. The advice he got was to put it in a Ziploc with a good amount of silica gel. You can buy it. I suppose rice may serve the same purpose.

noelia :

Hair dryer is typically a bad idea. Although it is known for working, it can make things worse. If you think logically, the hair dryer would be blowing the drops of water deeper into the machine (phone, camera, etc). When my dad was looking for advice, the first thing he was told (by a camera store owner) was not to use a hair dryer for that reason.

I am going to put it in a Ziploc bag and leave it out in the sun the next day.  Although, I do not have rice or that gel.  I will give out the results when I do this and I hope it does work.

I do not think leaving it in an empty bag is the best thing. There has to be something that will absorb the water to prevent it from creating condensation in the bag and getting back in the phone. I just thought I should voice my concern.

Leaving the phone to direct exposure to sunlight is also not a good idea, it can warp or melt the pieces due to the heat. Generally the heat tends to do more damage than the sunlight itself.

Marcmoney :

If it's inside a bag then the water may evaporate, but it will condense on the inside of the bag. That wouldn't really accomplish anything since the condensed droplets would just land on the phone and probably seep back in.
