I seen this interesting show on channel 31 today (C31 is like, the local, budget station for this city), and its about video games and stuff.

It showed about the xbox 360 and its heat problem warping the motherboard, the problem actually occurs from under the motherboard, where theres a lack of heat reducing things such as fans and heatsinks.

To combat this Microsoft put some small silicon (exelent heat conductivity) under the motherboard, so it touches the case, to try let the heat escape through the case itself. It resolve the problem a little, but not to the extent of a complete fix.

The problem with the motherboard heating up, is that it warps, then when it cools it stays in that shape, once its warped, some of its components no longer touch in there pin holes how they were ment to. Hence, why when it first dies, it works for a little bit longer, but you turn it off and let it cool, you'll get red rings on next boot.

So as you can see, microsofts fix, didnt really do the trick did it.. A brazilian hacker put bits of rubber under his motherboard, preventing it from being able to warp. And its a fix .

Some people have created hard silicon stoppers to go between your mobo and case on certain parts. This will release some heat to the case and prevent the mobo from warping.

As borat would say, NICE!!!

Dosnt really matter because its just the heat cant get out, well, sort of does matter, but still.
I havnt heard anything bout ps3's dying (yet). But it was a major hardware failure on MS's behalf.

The warrenty on xbox's is now 3 years (even if you got it 2 years ago, still got a year left on warenty), so its not a waste of money, if it dies, MS will replace it.
