I would say, if you had Mudkip chosen, level it up to an evolving level, let it evolve.
If you chose Torchic, I would suggest Pokemon with good moves and type match ups if Torchic/ evolutions doesn't work
If you chose Treecko, I seriously suggest other Pokemon. Treecko isn't exactly the best starter. Either that, or grind HARD

I've had a tough time as well since I started with Treecko. As the person above mentioned, training hard would be a primary.



As for an extra alternative, either use Fighting Type moves (Breloom's Mach Punch or anything else) or Ground Type moves (Geodude's
Magnitude or Aron's Mud-Slap) to deal with the annoying Magneton. Or
obtain a Shedinja and everything might be swell, unless it gets
confused.
