So I was watching an anime last night, and it got me thinking what kind of person I am, and what kind of person it would take to change me and my own ideals.

The idea is that beliefs guide us, and this lends into principle, doing what we feel is right, and doing it by uncontemptable means. But is it ok to waver on our principles if it gives us a better, more desired end result? Does it make us criminal if we choose to defy our own logic/principles just so we can get what we want out of a situation?

I should clarify where I stand, if I had these choices between going with principles, and getting the better end result, I would go with my principles. I mean, I love results as much as the next person, but is it worth giving away what I believe in, just for shallow results? To me results mean nothing if I didn't abide by my own principles to get them.

warmaker :

Well I'm curious if there are any dissenters.

Some people may be the type that value results over their own principles.

*Reads your thread* Ugh... My brain hurts now.

I could never give up my principles over shallow results, but I like results too. I'm the type of guy when it comes down to getting something straight and right. I want results, but if it goes against what I believe in just to get the results of what someone thinks it's right. Then I don't care what they think, for I want be apart of something that goes against my beliefs.

It's a tough situation to be in, but a lot of people nowadays wants results and giving up their beliefs just to get further in something idiotic. It's good to keep our principles instead of worrying about shallow results.

Forgive me it it's off topic, but I'm trying to get into the subject. :p

Sometimes we may seek the results yet still believe we held our principles.  This is when we compromise --which happens to be one of the most important things our Congress does.  Let me give you an example.

There have been times when I did something I knew I would get in trouble for but did not want my mother to know.  In some of these situations, I told my mother only part of the whole story --a white lie.  There I have compromised myself by not telling a lie, but still not telling the whole truth so that I get the results I want .  The results are... not having my mom at my throat so to speak.

Everyone will strive to stick with their principles.  The question is "who will compromise and who will not?"

I do my best to stick to my principles. Any reward I get isn't really worth it if I went against any principles I set for myself.

What anime was it? I'm thinking Brotherhood, but I'm way behind on that one, so I don't know.
