Yah.
I remember watching an anime yesterday where everything was seemingly post-apocolyptic. Bombers were flying in and dropping bombs on a city in japan. Thousands of people died. A person with a gun for an arm and wings had to go and blow up the planes. Then one of the planes came down and killed one of that person's friend's friend.
