As the thread title suggests, I got a new kitten. I'd take a picture of her, BUT ONLY GOOD KITTIES GET THEIR PICTURES TAKEN. She's a bit of a handful but hopefully she'll settle down. Any advice?

Wow, nice! I've never had a kitten, so I don't have any advice, but one of my friends has a few and they are nice. I'm thinking about getting a pet in the near future.

I got an idea when I helped train my cousins kitty I used a small water gun when he was bad and it turned out that he was trained much quicker than average

Congratz :3 i remeber when i first got my kitty.

She is just a kitten for the first few years there very playful
just play with her lots that should tire her out.
eventually as she gets old she will start to be less playful
and just lay around the house being a lazy bum my cat did.
The best things to do to train them
if she is bad get spray her with a bit of water.
Always have treats that way if shes good you give
her one.not too often or she will get too used to it and become
spoiled.

Aw, that's wonderful news, Jon. What kind of kitten is it? All kittens are a handful when they're young (as most animals/people are) that'll change within time. Kittens like to be pampered so make sure you pamper him/her and give it lots of yarn to play with. I can't wait to see the new addition to your family...I bet it's adorable!

Congratz on your new kitten! My dog was also bad when she was a puppy, she still is bad but not as bad when she was a puppy! My dog is 3 years old! Here`s a picture of my dog, back when she was either 1 or almost 1!

... for a second I had to make sure it was you who got a kitten, dunno why, but I thought you'd get a dog or bird or something.

Congrats on the acquistion of a kitten. I'm a cat person.

My best advice is to just let it do it's own thing. I mean you need to be a good owner, and feed it and everything, but cats are independent creatures, and they pretty much raise itself.

A few decisions you need to make in the near future though
1. Do you want the kitten to immedietly reproduce? If not, get it fixed.
2. Do you want the kitten to claw at your furniture? If not, get it declawed.
3. Do you want to get it a little plaything? Kittens are fun, and sometimes they are too playful. If you get them a plaything, sometimes they will leave you be, and have fun with each other... either that or they will fight. Decisions, decisions.

We used to have one on the vacation house, but she was more of an "opportunist" pet, because she was with us only when she was hungry or wanted to pet her,lol.

I will take a picture once she learns how to poop in the litter box. The animal hospital suggested keeping her in the bathroom with the litterbox until she learns to go there. I go in there to play with her and try to get her used to it, but as of yet it hasn't done much. Her name is Posey-Li, but Posey is just what I've been calling her. The original name, Sakura, I did not like because no one likes Sakura from Naruto

Awesome-Kid : Cute puppy. I don't think my Dad will let us wait that long for it to just get less bad so she better starting learning what's right and wrong.

legacyme3 : I'm actually a fish guy. My sister asked her friend for one of her kittens and she said yes. I would actually prefer a puppy. We do not want it to produce. We will probably get it fixed over the summer (if we still have her that is). We don't want her to claw furniture. However, declawing is a tad too inhumane. We'll look at other alternatives if it becomes a problem. She IS too playful. So far she plays with just about anything (the table cloth, chairs, rug, random string on the floor, this rubber ball we gave her, etc.) Oh no. She wants to be the center of attention. I gave her the ball to play with this morning and she kept meowing because she wanted me to watch her play (I assume).

noelia : I like cats too. I prefer them when they're older because they're much calmer and more behaved. But don't worry, I'll summon you once I post a picture I'll probably take one tomorrow.
