Don't worry too much about it. As long as you save in the game, it should be fine even if it says it failed. That's how it went for me when I played OoT start to finish.

I request that this thread be closed- Much to my embarrassment I figured out why the game was not saving- I was pressing ctrl twice instead of pressing ctrl and then shift- which means I kept thinking I was saving my game but I was only exiting out of the save game screen.

GameCraze : I played both Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, and on both games, I saved while the board said "Saved Download State Failed", but it didn't worry me too much because it saved anyway. 

So, it's probably a hic in the system that doesn't need fixing
