So it turns out that the Pakistani military was well aware of the U.S. raid on Osama bin Laden's compound, and they were involved in the operation itself.

This more or less proves that Pakistani military did indeed know that Osama bin Laden was in Pakistan, but they did not act upon this intelligence, and they even WARNED the U.S. against similar operations even though they allowed it. If this article is accurate, this simply blows my mind.

Sephitard9001 : the government said that within minuter they knew of it (which wasnt surprising seeing as it was in the centre of there military capital)and that they decided not to intervene.i think certain generals knew of him and when the fight with foreign forces broke out they guessed it was america,so stayed put.its kinda lucky because obama gave orders to use force on any pakistan forces that intervened.

thenumberone : Yes, but they pretended to be completely innocent to the world after the whole ordeal, even though knew exactly what went on. they tried to play it as though they were the victims, and that we're trying to make them look bad or something. They need to learn to just shut up and mind their own business. I know that sounds bad considering the operation took place in their country, but hey . . . They were the ones who failed to realize he was there in the first place.

All of the maneuvering sounds pretty par for the course in this kind of situation, and I understand the wanting to downplay involvement to avoid pissing off those who are annoyed at us (it doesn't matter how much the Pakistani government helps us if the people who are tired of being bombed overthrow them). It is a very precarious situation to be in.

The problem with that side of the world(or difference from us I should say) is that they run on bribes. If you want something done you need to bribe the appropriate person to get it done. Westerners have a problem with that notion which is a cultural reality there. Though you'd think the millions of dollars in aid the US gives to them would be enough of a bribe. The other problem is that almost everyone in the Middle East hates westerners. It all stems from the horrible treatment the British and other European countries did when they came in to "civilize" the native inhabitants and colonize the land. Granted Osama was a mass murderer, but a good bit of people there think of him as a hero, trying to pay back the western scum that took them over so long ago.
