It seems like where ever I go someone has a problem with me. It's either a look that quite plainly says "What's that kid's problem" or a smart remark like that. It's because of this, I was a big loner in school. It seems like all of my family said "Be yourself, you will make friends". I know it's true with a lot of people. But where ever I go and I try to be myself, it's what people don't like. It's not in my head cause other my only friends notice it too. Now because of this, I have a fear of being rejected or judged. Now I never leave my house. I learned to hate social gatherings.
All my life it's been like this. It seems like I have an aura around me that people don't like. Now my mom is even looking at me as a hermit. That's the way my father is. I don't see him at all. I seen him a couple of times throughout my life. No one knows where he is.
All I know is, it feels like I have it a lot worse than a lot of people. Pretty much my whole school hated me and people quite hanging out with me cause their friends didn't like me. Well, I don't know. It's hard to keep a positive attitude now anyway.

Could you perhaps provide something specific that would make others shun you in such a way? From my own experience, it seems that people either are jealous and/or judgmental. With me, it's always been that people look at me and they see some intimidating, creepy, skinny guy with an afro who speaks fast and low.

You sound like a nice guy. A little confidence would go a long way.

hmm, I never experienced this before, All I can say is to try and make more friends, but I agree with notjon, Confidence is a thing of value! best thing to get confidence (That I know of) is to learn a new skill or get really good at something!

like learn pakour, a martial art, how to play an instrument, or something stupid but cool, like how to detect a lie by someone's facial expressions, or how to throw your voice, I always love learning how to do that stuff! now I gotta google how to throw my voice! >.< just be an individual!

people try to make other people feel bad about them selves only because they feel insecure about themselves, I have no clue if that's a proven fact, but I'm pretty darn sure it's true!

zeldafreak123 : you should ask your friends what specificaly annoys them about you so you can address it.you could try a help group as well,thats a good place to learn about yourself and others.

I'll try to build up confidence. I think that's part of the reason people don't like me much. But I just have to find something I'm good at or join a mental illness group. More like something to live for. Right now I have nothing to live for. Thanks all for your help.

dude, you're not mentally ill. just because you don't like being in social gatherings and have a fear of being rejected doesn't mean you're a crazy person,

although, I might have a few doubts about myself considering the fact that even though I hate ponytails with all my heart, I JUST NOW realized I was wearing one and don't even remember putting it on O: (back to the topic)

you don't need to be who people want you to be, after all, YOU wouldn't tell someone not to play violin or something just because you don't like violin, so what makes it any different with.... whatever it is that people seemingly don't like about you?

one last thing, you don't have to find something you're GOOD at to do, it's somewhat rare to find something you're already good at, it takes practice to be good at something, so learn how to do something you WANT to do, mmk?

I can relate sort of...man, what I can say is there are 2 types of people:
Introverts and Extroverts

I'm not sure how much this will relate to you but, when I was 14 I was initiated into a local biker gang. Well, at 19 I disassociated myself from them. But for those 5 years I felt out of place and often had trouble socializing with them. Still to this day because of the way I grew up with them complicates my socialism to a certain extent.

I suppose what I'm saying is that it won't always be that way; just live it out and time will change.

i now how you feel people do that to me to but when i asked my cousin why he said because im to happy,annoying,and jumpy so i rarely had friends i only consider 4 people i have met in the past friends so when people look at you with that look ignore them and go foward with your life

tRIUNE : Lol. That made me laugh. =] I am actually mentally ill. I got papers to prove it. I have a split personality, been to mental institutions too many times to count, and take about eleven pills a day. Oh and I also have bipolar. But that made me feel better. Thanks. =D

Oh and owlflame, Just like danielalexander said, I too get overly exited. People tend to look down on it. But people said be yourself. And that is my self. I refuse to be like anyone else. That could be another possibility people don't like me cause I'm myself and people are all belonging to to their own "group" and I don't belong to any "group".

I can sorta see how being bipolar would complicate things, but I won't lie and say that I fully understand because I don't.

I do understand not fitting in. I was a level beyond social reject back in middle school and early high school because I didn't trust people easily. I managed to turn that around after joining karate and swimming. I was terrible at karate, but I improved.

Although you're older so the situation is different, you could still take karate somewhere. A school that is actually good will incorporate lessons for self-improvement into the curriculum. I honestly think that could help you. There would also be other people in the class to socialize with. Good training dictates that they respect everyone, so you won't get dirty looks from them.

If you're at a college, pick a club and join. If you're not currently at college, go sign up at a community college for liberal arts. After two years, you'll have most of the standard required courses and you'll be closer to knowing what you really want to major in. Community college credits usually transfer anywhere anyway.

The other reason I picked community college over something else is based on the people who go there. Most community college students are either too immature for an expensive university or simply don't have enough money for it. It's basically a collection of the world's misfits. I met my best friend playing YuGiOh in the cafeteria. That's just an example.

If you do know of ANYTHING that you're good at, share it here and people can weigh in on where you can make friends based on that. There is a way to make friends through anything so don't leave something out because you think it won't work.

Well, you said you are bipolar and have been in and out of mental institutions, did you tell any of the doctors treating you that you feel this way? They would probably have the best answer for you personally and make sure your meds are working properly. Though I do agree with some of the other posters, definitely join some sort of sport or club. It'll give you something to do with people who have the same interest.

Ya everyone in this fourm said pretty much everything. The best you can do is try to get into a community collage for liberal arts like Bnuge said.. and after 2 years you'll have enough credits for different things. People are truley ugly and have no sense of respect these days. I used to be upset cause there were so many groups at my school and everything and it was like I didn't fit in just one. So I tried just to talk to everyone no matter what group they were in. Just keep your head up high and you will do great in life. Just have faith in yourself.

That is awful. I would freak out about this too, but what you need to know is that God will always love you. My opinion is that you should tell your parents about this and your friends (the ones that are close to you) and see what they think about it. I do not know what I would do if this had happened to me.
