There's nothing like pulling out the old boot and kicking some alien ass.

I actually got to play the beta of Duke Nukem Forever, it was at a nerdfest we have in Aus called SupaNova, and those that have me added on FB will see I got some nasty free photo shopped picture of my head replacing Duke's in a badass pose.

Anyway, I am going to share what I thought of the game, based on the demo I was allowed to play (it was only 1 level because a guy was going around resetting the console once you reached the first checkpoint).

The demo started off in a bathroom, which upon loading I was told that if I press the RB (it was on a 360) I could take a leak, i proceeded to do this for a minute and told my friend (who had never played Duke Nukem) that this was the whole demo. She believed me until she saw other people were fighting aliens... From the toilet i went and played around in the showers turning on the faucets, which despite the fact that duke's hand had come from the right, they would turn right to turn on O_o

While they have all our favourite aliens, they have gotten a massive makeover which makes them scarier than before (not hard considering the last few games were made with graphics 19 years ago!). There were a few glitchy backgrounds and they used lazy cell shading, which I was hoping was only because its a beta I was playing...

I was a bit disappointed with one thing, which I hope they will fix, it was while using the shrink gun, to crush monsters you would physically have to make duke look down. T_T

And so that's what inspired me to go and pre order the Balls of Steel pack at EB. I can't wait for the release next month, to tide me over I had to get Portal 2, Minecraft and Fable 3.

I'm not much of a DN fan, but I am eagerly waiting to get my hands on this game, if nothing more than to just say I own a game that people waited their childhoods for.

It looks like an amazing game though, and my friend got to look heavy at it at PAXon, along with a lot of the games coming out this year. He told me to go get it, because it looks like a sleeper for a few different game awards.

Again, looking forward to it, will be playing AC:Brotherhood, L.A. Noire, and Fallout New Vegas till then.

Man, i've been waiting like 14 or 15 years or longer for that game ! I used to play DN 3D with my brothers in network sessions which would go on for the whole weekend ! I am super excited and can't wait for DNF to come out. I also already pre-ordered the game, so i am already super excited !

how were you able to play the demo already? it's not supposed to be released till June 3rd

Flibbith : I said 'beta', its not a proper demo, its the dodgy copy they send out to get people to test the game. Also i was able to do it cos I went to a nerd convention and they happen to have the beta there. It was a last minute decision to have it there too.

Sweet. I played Duke Nukem on the N64 a few times, and have been waiting way too long for DNF to come out. Finally, it's coming.!

Oh, Duke Nukem. I remember picking up Duke Nukem 3D when I was a little youngster. I stayed up playing kicking some alien *** while laughing my head off at Duke's most quotable lines. For crying out loud, it's a game where one scenario starts with Duke saying "Nobody steals our chicks.......and lives". So true. And how can you not love a game that makes you rip off one of the bosses head and dumping in their decapitated neck, and then eventually get to field goal kick the final bosses eye out of his head on a football stadium that rests on top of a skyscraper? This will be one of the few games I think I will not wait for the price to go down to buy. Can't wait!

Flibbith : If you bought Borderlands Game of The Year edition like I did you can participate in beta. Lol the game does look cool, another fun shooter among many, god I love video games!!

Duke Nukem, the memories of that game so long ago too.  In some ways I felt it was the only first person shooter to get it right too.  I mean, no other game I knew at the time and for a while that you could blast pretty much anything and leave damage marks.  The only game where your character talked during the action and in response to events like blasting an enemy to pieces with a rocket. "He he he... what a mess!" I loved that.  I wasn't so thrilled about the bathroom part, but did add to its realism quite well.  Now that the team is finally back together and releasing this newest version, I can only hope there will a release on a platform I can use.  I can only wonder myself if there will be enough good features on the release to hold up to its long awaited time.  Then again, I still have yet to find a single demo of this anywhere either so it does worry me if it will come out on time or not.
