You can only swing the way your player is facing. If your guy sets up for a backhand he's going to do a backhand no matter how you swing. Same thing for a forehand. That's the way the game is set up. It's meant to be simple.

Maybe it is, but still I haven't heard any other PAL gamer mention this. In mine the guy runs toward the ball, and no matter whether you swing forehand or backhand it swings the direction that the game is telling it to. Like if the Mii has to use a forehand they will set up for one, even if I do a backhand they are going to do a forehand with the motion. It really messes with my timing to try and do a backhand when it should be a forehand. It just feels weird.
