Ah, the soul crushing continues. A Spanish website interviewed folks from GameFreak at a Pokemon Black and White event in London. They asked the team if there would be a Pokemon Gray coming to the Nintendo 3DS, to which GameFreak replied: “Not at all. We finished this comes with Black and White version.” That’s not a perfect translation obviously, but as you can see via Google Translate, it’s quite apparent that this will be the first generation of the Pokemon series that won’t receive further editing in the form of a game like Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, or Platinum. But perhaps that means the Pokemon game in development for the 3DS will be a “real” Pokemon game?

Update: Nekki (in the comments below) has provided us with a better translation of the above quote, “With B&W, we have concluded this iteration.” We also have a similar translation from Luis: “We have finished this series with the Black and White version.”

Oh no well that sucks i was really looking forward too it to.

Creating a whole other generation now will take at least 2 years if its gonna be any good at all. It sucks they aren't making one, but maybe now they can get cracking on a R/S remake

Although honestly, I thought nobody cared about a third release, so this surprises me. What exactly do third releases add to the game experience, and why would you want to buy the same game twice? I think the only thing that they're REALLY useful for is providing a slightly better option for people who come into the series a bit late. Like, when I came into the series (just after the 2nd Gen remakes were released) I could buy Platinum instead of Diamond or Pearl.

and besides the 3rd release in generations adds plenty of things actually
i'm more excited for gray than the remakes honestly

They've broken tradition before. Tradition is that with every new Nintendo handheld, a new generation of Pokemon games would be released. Well, instead of waiting to make B/W for the 3DS, they made it for the DS, and there already WAS a generation for the DS games, in DPPt.

yeah, then what's kyurem for? and what about the moves Freeze Bolt and Cold Flare, Which symbolize Ice fused with Fire, Reshiram's type, and Electric, Zekrom's type? and what about the currently unavailable God Stone, which is the color of Kyurem, gray, and looks exactly like the Light and Dark Stones? THAT, my friends, is sure proof that there WILL be a Pokemon Gray.

kyuremu : There's a difference between internet rumors generated by some journalist, and stuff that Game Freak says in an interview. They specifically said these words:

"Black and White is the end of this iteration of the Pokemon series."

Iteration = Generation

And it actually makes perfect sense if you think about it. Because if they went through with putting out Gray and the obligatory remakes, then, there would be the remakes, and then there would be 6th Gen for 3DS. And you know what they'd be remaking for the sixth gen? Diamond and Pearl. And that would be pointless, seeing as Diamond and Pearl can be played on the 3DS. The main reason that RGBY were remade for the Advace was that RGBY were no longer compatible with the latest technology. You could play RGBY on a Color model, during GSM, but you couldn't play RGBY on an Advance model while you COULD play GSM on an Advance model. So every generation was playable except RGBY, and RGBY was then remade.

And to your theory the games originally were remade so fans could experience it again not so it could be profitted from
4th gen remakes will be for the 6th gen, probably with 3D interfaces and new things as always why would they break tradition?
ruby and sapphire will be the 5th gen's remakes for the DS the only reason the DS has so many pokémon games is because its the longest running generational handheld for nintendo
look at it this way the DS is 6 years old, the GBA Only lasted around 4 years

And as to why they would break tradition? Well why would they break tradition to make B/W for the DS? it all boils down to one word bro. MONEY.

Ruby and Sapphire actually probably wont be for the DS, I think that they'll skip to the 3DS for RSE remakes but that's just speculation.

And don't request me to stop pressing these rumours as facts. I presented an article written by a trusted, and respected reporter explaining that Game Freak confirmed there would be no Gray version. You however, just said "Game Freak said these rumors weren't true" and until you can present your sources, I can't find your information trustworthy.

Can we NOT turn this into a flame war, and keep this civilized? Etiquette in situations like this is that I post the link to the DENIAL of Pokemon Gray, and YOU post the link where it says that it's not true. It's not my job to look it up. What do I search for, anyways? What are the search terms?


Also, gray and grey are BOTH acceptable spellings of the word.
