Toy Story is a great game, among many other genesis era games. It's quite difficult when you're not invincible, but it's definitely still worth trying to beat on your own. Use Woody's whip to get through levels and follow the story of the original movie, though the actual "Story" is only portrayed through paragraphs and a few pictures, making it just an opportunity to Press A and skip through to gameplay.
As with most games of its era, Toy Story is fun and challenging. Although a short playthrough once successful, the game is entertaining enough to keep you playing again. That's the problem with some next gen games, a 10 hour story mode is great! But when you're done, you're done. And you definitely don't feel like doing it all over again (depends on the game/player, but that's my opinion).
Anyway, Toy Story is definitely worth your time as a good game for fans and non fans of Disney/Pixar's first fully animated film.
However, as mentioned above, when I play this game I'm usually invincible or I use the skip level code. The above review is slightly biased since I love Toy Story. Point blank: this game is HARD and can be extremely frustrating to pass with just 5 hits and a few lives. The only way to truly pass this game is to collect all the stars on each level. With enough stars, you gain lives and even continues. Keep that in mind, but remember to enjoy what I still believe to be a good game and not to get too caught up in the fact that Woody will be saying "OW" about half the time.
