my laptop resets itself back to basic view when i play the Sega consoles
maybe thats what your computer is doing
as for me, it doesn't debilitate me from playing the games it just takes some time for my laptop to get itself together

The sega systems can be as touchy as N64, for me it changes my monitor scheme when I open a game, and resets when I close the emulator. For some users, the sega games won't work at all, just depending on whether or not your computer is compatible with sega and the emulator's programming and spec requirements. The only thing to do is just like with N64 games, try a different computer. Sorry for the inconvenience.
