Hey people, I have heard numerous things about this animal (Which is my favorite one) being alive, while many scientists say, and confirm, that is has been extinct. I think this is untrue.
There are multiple reasons on why I have a sensible logic idea on how it's still alive, for example:
1) It was hunted out. It's IMPOSSIBLE that man kind could have killed EVERY single one.
2) There's over a thousand sightings each year that prove its existence.
3) the jungles on that island are far too mass to have been scouted through completely while looking for them.

I also have heard that scientists have been trying to clone one from a strand of DNA left over, but we all know that won't happen... Especially when it's probably hiding right under our noses.
So what do you guys think?

Funny, this brings back one my classes where we covered extinctions including the Tasmanian tiger. The animal is completely extinct. It`s absolutely possible to wipe out every single individual; just look at all the other organisms we wipe out every year. Something like 20,000 species go extinct per year, I believe.

Anyway, the Tasmanian tiger went extinct about a hundred years ago. If there have been so many sightings of it, how come there is no hard evidence? No bodies, no pictures; and it's an animal easy to be confused with something like a dingo. The actual forests of Tasmania aren't that large any more, and even if a few did survive past the extinction date, there would not be enough to continue the species.

I was actually totally enthralled in the rumors a whiel ago, and there is that one video on youtube of the last known one in captivity- soo cool at that! I believe it is unfortunately extinct and there were probably to little of them [like less than 20 maybe (-_+)] to reproduce much-if they could even find each other..I would so wish to see one alive though!!

I think they're extinct, but it's very possible that a few are left . . . it's like Bigfoot, you can't prove he doesn't exist, but you can't prove he exists either.

As much as I would like them to be around still, it is highly unlikely the species still survives. They were hunted to extinction, much like humans have done with several other species and will most likely continue to do because people don't care.

Although I don't doubt that there may be a few sitting around, and if there are, they are probably few and far between. For a species to recooperate themselves, there need to be a certain amount of the species left, and they would have to be close to eachother in order to be able to mate. So if they are not exstinct, chances are that they will be soon.

I hope they're still alive, I don't see why people would kill an animal. Its cruel and expecially killing an animal thats near extinction. Everybody should leave animals alone of they're almost extinct. I think the president should make a law for that.

But people want land to build houses on, and they will wipe out species to do it just like always. It is up to the officials to enforce laws protecting endangered species, both within each nation and internationally, and it is up to the people that want to help to do what they can--usually by donating to organizations that are trying to bring species back.

For some species, like the Tasmanian Tiger (aka Thylacine), the Passenger Pidgeon, the Javan Tiger, or the Baiji River Dolphin it is too late.

mr.keys : i believe they were hunted because the settlers arrived and went, tiger?no,dont want that theyl kill the livestock,so they put bountys on them.studys show that they didnt even target livestock though,it was just a baseless asumption.
