I choose Magby because he is the pre evolution to Magmar one of my favorite Fire Pokemon, which I got to lv 100 on my 1 and only game on Pokemon Blue version. I also think he looks cooler, and cuter than Elekid.

I prefer Elekid because I think he looks cooler and he evolves into an even cooler Pokemon (Elektabuzz)

Elekid is also the better choice if your playing little league tournaments because of his more exstensive move pool.
