i heard light bulbs will be illegal by the end of this year because they give of more heat radiation rather than light 47/60 watts is giving of heat so we will be switching to florescent lightbulbs

I don't see how they can make them illegal- A lot of lamps and light fixtures are the wrong size for florescent or swirly bulbs and people are forced to use the older bulbs. We have a lot of light fixtures in my house that wouldn't be able to work anymore if old lightbulbs were illegal (unfortunately).

Well either way, if they are discontinued/outlawed the result will be the same. I guess we would have to get new lamps and do renovations... I am all for the swirly bulbs but I'm just pointing out it would be very inconvenient for many people.

I think it ia rather a too large scale (proposed) law. wat others have said about varying sizes and even older antique "objects" that use older fixtures/ bulbs would then be made "ilegal". There is also the issue of checking up and upholding the law which would seem rather difficult. I'm all for eco-friendly & that people should be aware of the Eco-Friendly bulbs but maybe not ilegal.
