Ok, so I found this comic series a while back and have been a huge fan sense! I thinks it's better than the show for a couple reasons: 1) they always stay true to the games even though they have their own unique stories. There is no filler or repetitious episodes 2) it doesn't just follow one character. They have a character for each game and all gym leaders have big roles in the plot, not to mention they make cameos in later arks. 3) all trainers are actually smart! 4) they have little shout-outs to the show and side games. This is by far one of my favorite manga. I remember reading some of them in the public library. They are a must read if your into pokemon. I love all the characters and the story, I love how they have different pokemon too.
