So we just finished 3rd year high school and on June we'll be 4th year students. And that means we should start fixing some papers and stuff for the college entrance exam, and we also have to review for a bit to freshen up our brains. Honestly I wanna be a veterinarian, but since we're sort of a family of engineers and businessmen, they made me choose between those two. And... I chose computer engineering. If I still want to be a doctor they said I shouldn't choose vet since I have no future in it in terms of income. My second choice is to become a musician or a music conductor. Dad said I could enroll in a conservatory but I should wait until I get a job that pays well. WELL.... I wonder what he meant by that.

Juliet : That is an interesting position you are in, but I hate how you are comforming so easily to your parents wishes, I mean yes they are your parents, but it is your life. I think you should do what you love, but congratulations on getting this far!

aeonarial: What they want to happen is that I have to get a decent job first before taking jobs that would count as hobbies. The problem is that i feel like my time is too short for taking up two 5 year courses that are completely unrelated to each other. That means I'll graduate at the age of 26... I'll be old by then. So I'll have like 14 or 15 years left to fully enjoy life since human body starts getting weaker at the age of 40, around 40 and if I reach 40 then I have to think about health related stuff regularly. Health problems, blood pressure, sugar level..etc. Once you got a severe disease, you have no chance of getting cured unlike if you're still a bit younger.
What a joke. It's just too short.

By the way, we'll start taking entrance exams this September.

26 isn't that old, and if the body starts getting weaker at 40, you wouldn't know it in my family, even though he's almost 50, my stepdad does hard labor.

I expect when I hit 40 or so, I will continue to be extremely fit, and won't let age try to get me down.

Anyway, good luck with your entrance exams! When I went to college I didn't need to take them myself, but maybe it's just a regional thing?

You should do what you want with your life, and while your parents have good intentions, is that truly what you want? If it isn't you should do some real searching to determine what you really want. (When I was younger, my mom wanted me to go into engineering, or biochemistry or something complicated, I didn't want to do that, I'm more than happy doing basic things like ringing up someone's groceries at the store, or cooking.)

Juliet-chan is such an optimistic person, lol
Well, I don't think that being 26 makes you old. If you feel young in your heart, then age doesn't matter that much. My mom's friend started "leaving" her life (travels around the world etc) on her 55. I can assure you that she's having more fun even than me, that I'm 21. So don't be so pessimistic, I'm sure you'll find a way both to have a well paying job and also to do things that you like

By the way, good luck with everything

If you want to do something nothing should stop you. I play lacrosse and I want to play in college. I have only played for 2 years, but I want to play badly so I try hard and I am going to try out anyway. I want to be an artist, but I am not the best artist, and I know its not a very rich job, but I love it so I want to do it anyway.

I hope you do well on your college entrance exams! By the way I think 26 isn't too young and you should do what you want to do.
