What I need you to do is imagine this next Windows operating system. That's right. Longhorn slash Vista. Vista, as you know, requires a 3d card, and the only 3d applet it has is the 'task switcher'. Microsoft thinks they can ask us all to get a 3d card, just so they can shuffle windows in our faces.

But they ignore things like this. Yes, that's Linux (with XGL). Welcome to the future, my friends. Programs bouncing like jello cubes. Video files for desktop backgrounds. A 3d surface as your screen space. Transparent videos on top of transparent games on top of transparent videos on top of Video files for desktop backgrounds.

And all you're getting with Vista is "a 3d task switcher". If you feel you're being ripped off by Microsoft, tell/show your friends, or blog this to your journal!

No, it's better. It's the 'virtual desktop' program, only 3d accelerated. And programs themselves stretch out when you move them, like jello. And windows can be translucentified, like XP used to do, back before they decided not to let you control that.
