Just keep messing around with it and practicing, you will get better. If there is a specific something you want to do, I suggest looking up a tutorial online- They are usually very helpful. I do not use GIMP but that is how I got so good at Photoshop over the years- Trial and error, and lots of experimentation.

lol yeah, I was messing with it because this guy joked with me, he said I posted that picture so much that I should make it my profile picture. (the original, before I edited it)

Then I told him it wouldn't be a picture of me (I hate not having a picture of me as my profile picture)

He suggested I get a facelift then.

I just decided to edit it on in about 5 seconds, that's why it's so choppy

GIMP has a lot of fun features, but I was never able to combine them into something that didn't look ugly. It can probably do more than my program, but mine is a lot more straightforward. When I decide on what I want to make, I understand how to make it. GIMP is a lot to learn before you can even do simple tasks. Too much work for me.
