Well, we'll see if bigbob can program the sidekicks into the shop. The thing is, I could put them up now, BUT, I don't want them to affect a person's stats since they are not actually part of a person, just a sidkick to a person.

Or if you can wait until July, that's when I take my college course on PHP.

I should probably get out and sign up with some college. Which one would you recommend, I've never done it before.

Well I could learn PHP on my own of course, I have the software and books to do so, but since I'm going to school for web design might as well wait until I take the class.

I'm attending Art Institute Online, which is based on the Institute in Pittsburgh. Basically it's just a college that offers courses completely online, so your diploma says "Art Institute of Pittsburgh" instead of "Art Institute Online".

It's a great school, I've learned a ton so far and much better than the last school I had attended.

Ill take a look at how sidekicks work in the DB. Ill also see if i can make it not effect peoples stats... if they effect peoples stats...

Sidekicks could be like the pets in everquest.
They like sit there, and attack every now and then, uncontrolably. Is that what vizzed sidekicks are like?

You'd give the side-kicks command, and could use them battle like hwo you use pokemoen to battle.

OR like summons... off of FF.... Pokemon is too involved, not enough actual man to man combat... ya hurr?

I was just comparing...I mean, you'd be battle man to man, but than your sidekick would be next to you and you'd tell him to do something...either attack the opponent or his sidekick.

You should be able to buy a sidekick, then name it what ever you want. And it gains in power after battles, like a pokemon.

Maybe give it a nickname, but they all have their own names. And not all the sidekicks are pets, most are, but some are actually human...

Well, what if we removed teh human ones, and replaced them with pets.. or monkeys... But maby not call them pets either...

EDIT : They should have a species, then we name them seperatly. Otherwise its a bit silly if we have a sidekick with the same name.

Well it's kind of like a summon I suppose, comes and helps and than leaves after battle...I dont know, the species thing is a good idea

However, I would want to use human characters for sure since I've already made a few and I'd want to put them to use. We could make it so once someone already has one of the human characters as their sidekick, no one else can own that sidekick. Same could go for pets that are the only kind of a species...however, a creature that comes from a populated species can be owned by more than 1 person and the pet would be called by it's species name (ex: cat, dog, etc), and THAN maybe the owner could name it BUT they wouldn't be able to name a sidekick human or a pet that already comes with a name and that belongs to it's own species (meaning, he/she be the only one of his/her species).

I think you idea is awsome. But does that make some sidekicks mroe like characters (not wanting to change the name or anythen).

Would winning battles really effect your stats?, Or like, add to your exp and viz?
Would be be able to win random prizes?

From battles you'd probably just win Viz...someday we could make it so you win items too (items that wouldn't be in itemshop). Also maybe a victory count as well.

BUT, we'd have to make it so you can only encounter so many battles a day otherwise someone could just keep entering forums over and over again and just play so many battles that they have countless Viz.


AND yes, some sidekicks would be more like characters, who wouldn't be able to have their name changed...and than there would be some with no name that just belongs to a species that dont have a name which you'd be able to name.

But all this talk makes me think that it'd be a long while before we'd be capable of pulling something like this off.

What would be alot easier, if we made an online vizzed rpg, where the stats arnt related to the vizzed board, so everyone starts at level 1. And have it sorta, not really related to the forum, then we could make them connected later.
