I actually read Ender's Game as part of an English class in high school. I was one of the few people who didn't figure out what was going on at the end until after the book explained it. I haven't gotten to the sequels.

I'm a little older then you folks but Ender's Game is one of my favorite books. It's an incredible story that real pulls me in to the plot line. I didn't see the end coming and when it was over I was really impressed.

I read a few of the sequels. These one book, "Ender's Shadow" that talks about Bean's existence. It was also pretty good.

Baconator : I read in when I was a kid, late 80s/early 90s time. It was a quick paperback, no thicker then a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure book. I never went back for the extended version. That felt kinda cheap to me. I chose to keep my memories and the wonderment of reading it when I was young.

My friends read it too. We would play with little nerf guns in my buddy's basement and use furniture for stars, like in the battle room.

I have read Ender's Game and all of the "sequels" and also the Shadow series. The thing about Ender's Game and the "sequels" is that the later books are completely different and should not be considered with the first book. I'm actually torn between Ender and Bean as characters. There is a huge gap between ender's game and the novel after it, so much in my opinion that Ender suffers.
