Alright, so I've got a suggestion here.

When you make a layout to sell, you should be able to put a "copy block" on it. I am currently aware of the fact that if someone buys your layout, modifies the code a bit, and resells it, you will earn the Viz of however much the layout has sold for. Although this is alright (free viz, yay), I'd rather not have people buy my layouts just so that they can steal my code and design ideas. I don't create layouts for Viz, but I create them so my "art" can be released into the community. At first I kind of ignored the fact that people were using my layout code, but now I'm getting several notifications often of people buying my "layouts" (although it's the person who modified my layout's layout), and quite frankly it's pissing me off.

Therefore, I think there should be an option of blocking people from editing your layouts. Kinda like a check box at the bottom of the edit layout page, next to the "Use as Default" and "Sell" check boxes. I think this would be pretty beneficiary to people like me and the whole Vizzed community.

JigSaw : Since you made the layout shop and you are the head of it, what do you think of this idea? Is it implementable?

The purpose of the copy layout feature is to offer users the ability to copy a layout without tampering and destroying the original version. If copy block was enabled then people would be able to screw up a layout for good, and they can't repurchase it either because you can only purchase the same layout once.

Plus you cannot buy a layout and resell it because it tags the original creator as the owner. The only way to sell someone elses layout is to copy the code, go into the advanced editor and paste it. Or have 2 windows open and copy each field from the layout created in the template maker and basically apply it to a new version.

It doesn't make much since to block people from editing or copying a layout they purchased, how would they be able to adjust color, signatures, etc to it? What if they destroy the layout?

Also there is no way to prevent someone from stealing HTML / CSS codes, anyone can easily view a the page source and rip it from there.

I'm working on an alternative solution to this giving staff the ability to ban people from making layouts or delete them altogether. So if someone does indeed steal a layout you made they will be banned from the entire layout center.

Also I will be working on a layout quiz, so if someone fails that they wont be able to create or edit layouts, but they would probably be able to buy one.

JigSaw : I suppose I didn't look at it in that sense. Welll, it was just a suggestion a guess. :/

Since the question's been dealt with, I'm going to close this. Technically, anyone with a bit of skill could steal anyone's layout and do whatever they want with it, without even having to buy it from the layout shop. Hell, someone with some time to waste could download all the pictures off vizzed and make something that looks identical to any page on the site. "Stealing" someone's code is really easy to do, since like JigSaw said anyone can view the source code, and anyone who knows what they're doing could replicate exactly what you did. If you want the thread to be reopened or anything, PM me.
