I happened to ask my teacher if he had money invested.... He told me he did, and proceeded to tell me all this good advice. he told me to get an account on SCOTTrade


www.scottrade.com Which is a good online service. Each trade costs 7 dollars and there are no maximums or limitations. THere is no account upkeep or any jazz like that. YOu initially have to put 500$ of your own money in, but that is free, because its your own money.

And he told me to buy stock in SOFO, Sonic Foundry I think. They made software like soulforge and stuff like that. Back in the day they used to have alot of products, but they wre bought out by sony (just the products) Now they only have one product. So I put 5000$ of my own dollars into the account (all the money I had, a very risky move, I've been saving for a long time now) I didn't even tell the teacher how much money I had in it, just because he might get worried.

But anyways I bought 2500 of the stock at 1.68$ equalling about 4200$. SO far its good, its at 2.10$ now. Meaning for 4200$ of my own money, in a week or two I increased it by 25% Now this stock has been going up and down and up and down. Bouncing between 2$ and 1.70 I'm not saying you should buy it, but I would really Reccoment Scotttrade. You can buy CD's Mutual funds, and actuall stocks on the site. really nifty if you ask me.

BUT, Here is my question for yall. DO you have money invested into anything? Do your parents?

If you just have money in the bank Inflation outpaces the interest so your losing money on it. Especially if you have your money in an account that doesn't have good interest. Its like... SHooting yourself in the foot. There is my Spiel... WHo will read it? I don't know.

Once I'm finished with college I'll probably pick up some stock and start an IRA.

Well I figure I can probably make your money than the college interest rate, and thats why I'm going to an Uber cheap college now. About 1700 A semester for 16 credits (I skimp on alot of the books)


Another thing I consider is... If the stock Doubles, then I will ahve 10,000$ Earning 5,000$

BUt i fit BOMBS, and lets say splits in half, then I'll only be losing 2500 Hundred. Kind of a

Risk Vs Reward situation... Necessary to be a good poker player.

I dont, but my parents have large sums of stock in variouse places... im not sure where... but they do.. O.o

Its the one i use... i can use it until im 21... then i think they have a 'Student Account' which is free or really cheap...

My family is WAY too poor to have stock... But my girlfriends parents have a bunch of stock.. I don't know what exactly, but I know they have a ton of shares in the Green Bay Packers...

IW, wat i ment was, if my total fees at the end of the month is $3.50, there is no fees. If my total fees are $4.50, i only get charged for $0.50

Still don't know what can you do with stocks and if you get money or not.

Ohh i get it now.... Well i have no 'fees' as such, but i do as everyone else does, recieve a charge for using another banks teller... So im still gettin the betta deal... There is a chance you will have to pay fees... I usually go to my bank or make widthdrawls with EFTPOS so i usually dont get a fee anyway

Stocks are like buying into a company... How your stocks do depend on how the company does... You can sell them for money... And i think there is away to recieve some kind of 'intrest' to recieve money that way... Stocks also part to who has control over the company... Technically, if you bought the entire of stocks of a company, as in, bought the stocks share holders already had, (im lead to believe) that you will in turn become some kind of 'authority' to that business... However if you want to know how the stock market 'works' i suggest u Google it and buy your news paper and watch it...

Here is the STock Market in a Nutshell. ICewave had it right. Its buying portions or shares of a company. Once you have shares its sorta like a currency. THere is a level at which you could sell it and people would buy it.

DIVIDENDS are the money the company actually makes, and either pays back to the stockholder, or reinvest in the company. All stocks do not have dividends.

Think of this. YOU STEPHEN want to build an Icecream restaruant. So you go to 10 people in your town. You put down 10,000 and they each put down 1,000. You could say they owned 5% of your company. They INVESTED in your company. Thats what its like.

Thats right! YAY!
It also gives the major shareholers a chance to 'control' the company so that they may choose how to increse the worth of there shares, this way they can sell them to make more money... And generally, the more shares u own the more 'control' u have... Technically... even someone with 1 share can say what that company will do... :O
But that really gets into the nitty gritty... which we really dont need to do.. If u want to buy shares, i suggest a stockbroker...

Its actually quite complex... I here that investing in Medical stuff is hot right now... The shares are skyrocketing...

Its a good plan, but its really risky.. Also you need a TON of money to invest if you want to make money fast.. you know?
