Excuse me but what is 4chan and what do you do on it is it like a chat site or somthing like that?

4chan is an image board that harkens back to the olden days of the Internet. The reason you've heard of it even though you know nothing about it is that it's become quite infamous in recent times.

The thing about 4chan and image boards like it is that it doesn't require you to have a user account to have full access, so people can post just about anything they want under the veil of anonymity. People take advantage of that to post up child porn and basically use it as a front for a lot of illegal activity. Matter of fact, when 4chan once tried to crack down on their "don't break the law" rule, they actually had to back down because of the massive protest.

When a lot of people think of 4chan, they think of Anonymous, which is basically a legion of trolls (although that's a huge generalization), and that's because 4chan is one of the sites Anonymous has called home.

I went there once, and outside of the /b/ section it was extremely boring. /b/ is actually just disgusting. I don't think you can get away with linking 4chan in any capacity on a forum like this.

Crawldragon has a pretty good explanation of it. Threads on 4chan are often full of 18+ images and disturbing content, so if you're under-aged I advise you DO NOT go to the 18+ parts of the board.
