This may not seem like a serious thread, but it sorta is...
anyway, I got carple tunnel from work, and now that I have it I gotta do things to reduce it and to try and get rid of it. Since keyboarding is horrible for your wrist, I've invested into buying a $60 keyboard, as seen below

For anyone who does keyboard alot, I'd really suggest getting either the above keyboard (made by microsoft and doctors to help get rid of wrist strain; has tilt support and tons of features that prevent wrist strain), or an ergonomic keyboard because having carple tunnel sucks! Even though I didn't get it from typing, typing does it make hurt more.

Anyways, now for the fun part of the thread. The following are other "strange" ergonomic keyboard designs:

he's just a nerd, although it would work

That's just cool

And of course, an ergonomic mouse:

I have got carple tunnel in my right hand from holding my mouse wrong. I've found that every so often resting my wrist a plastic bag of ice, it causes the swelling to go down and I can go for longer without pain.

I don't think I've ever spent enough time on the computer to actually cause any sort of damage...

or maybe I've just strengthened my wrists so much over the years that they are tougher than yours!

I really can't stand those kinds of keyboards. They're SO hard to type on. I mean, all you really have to do to not hurt yourself when typing is to keep your wrist aligned with your hand, and you'll be fine. Same with a mouse... but I don't use a regular mouse anyway because I'm on a laptop.

I pulled a muscle in my hand typing on a laptop... I typed 11 pages in 3.5 hours. I've been using the split keyboard for years, I get cramps in my hand when I played quake on the normal keyboard. But I've found it to help my typing speed and correct fingering.

The fact that your hands are so close to together makes your hands angled while typing on a normal keyboard, and that causes strain right there (unless the distance between your shoulders are only inches, but than you'd look funny). So basically, there should be some distance between your hands since there is distance between your arms.

Also the tilt angle of the keyboard plays a big role aswell, surprisingly, research has shown that having your keyboard tilted like the following picture shows, is best for your wrists

http://www.heise.de/bilder/63496/0/0

And of course, your arms and elbows should always be at a 90 degree angle when typing, and yeah, there are alot of other things to be aware of aswell.

Also ergonomic keyboards have been proven to increase your typing speed.

The fact that I'm small boned probably had alot to do with getting carple tunnel, has nothing to do with muscle strength or anything, just from real repetitive work that has caused everyone on my machine to receive carple tunnel

i like my keyboard, the only thing i would change about it is the 'f' key to work, and move the numberpad over to the left, i would use it so much more then.

the reason for this is, is i want to use the numpad, i have my hand on the mouse. its rather frustrating.

of course, long term, i will have a ergonomic keyboard

also, there has been a way for laptops to gain power when people use their keyboard with the use of magnets and kinetic energy [u typing]

Theres no way i'd be able to use an Ergonomic Keyboard.. My typing is like a really fast chicken peck... I pretty much only use 3 fingers to type... It seems like some of them would be really difficult to use in general, even for people with good form.. The second one seems like it would be really difficult...

I took 2 keyboarding classes in highschool, and I've just been a proper typist every since. The first keyboard displayed wouldn't be to bad to get use to, but the others would just annoying!

I used to have to look at the keyboard.. but I practiced staring at a target point and after a while you don't have to look at all... It looks a lot more professional, even though you have horrible form..

I never look at the keys on my keyboard, ever. The only time i actually look at my keyboard is when I need to find them symbols that are on the number keys, I never have those positions memorized.
