I've seen ALL his previous movies I love his originals his new movie Ponyo but it was out on DVD in Japan when I was there last and I should have bought it. I first saw Spirited Away and loved it! From then on I looked for every anime movie with his distinctive style and loved them too!

I heard of him. All those movies are amazing. He quite possibly could be the best director I've seen in anime movies.

Can you open the poll?

I will have to admit that Hayao Miyazaki directed some of the best anime movies, like Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and Princess Mononoke. Kenji Kamiyama has done some good work too.

I do looooove Hayao Miyazaki, but I haven't seen all of his movies. I've seen Howl's Moving Castle, Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky, and Ponyo. All of them were awesome except Ponyo. Ponyo was kind of a disappointment. It didn't live up to Miyazaki standards. But it's my goal to own all of his movies on day. So far I have Howl's Moving Castle and it is my absolute favorite.

Miyazaki is an anime genius! I love his work. My favorite movies were Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, and Spirited Away. Seriously, it's not often you get to see such compelling story-telling, amazing settings, not to mention odd and interesting characters.

He is an amazing director and I love his work. All of them are visionary and compelling. My favorite of his would have to be Howl's Moving Castle.

DBDonald : Dude ponyo was epic! I love it, though my friend and I agree the plot of Howl's was kind of messed up.

Hayao Miyazaki is one of my favorite directors, and probably the best anime director of all time. They're all great movies, so I can't exactly pick a favorite ^^;. There's something that really relates to me in pretty much every movie, and they're always touching in some way shape or form.
I've watched all of them except for Ponyo pretty much haha.

Most of the other movies by Studio Ghibli are pretty great too

I've always loved and admired his work very much, all of the movies have been great. The first one I saw was My Neighbour Totoro, which I immediatly loved. In addition I like Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle the best.

Yes, he is one of the best directors of all time. When I finished watching Spirited Away for the first time, I quite honestly cried.

My favorite will always be Spirited Away. It had one of the most complete plots from all of his work that I've seen, and I've seen a lot. The scene introducing No-Face has been etched into my young mind forever...

Blue_Rose88 : To the both of you thanks for giving your input!

Of course this was the VERY first thread I ever made and I was kind of disappointed some people had never heard of Hayao Miyazaki! Im glad there are some other Miyazaki fans out there besides me. Btw some good news for y'all...Hayao Miyazaki if you didn't know; he has a son. His son is going into anime directing too! With help from his dad! I look forward to seeing his future movies.

xela222 : Yeah Spirited Away was sad but another anime film that made me cry that was in the style of Miyazaki (however Im not sure if it was directed by him) was Grave of the Fireflies which is based off a true story! It takes place in Japan during World War II after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and we countered back with air raids. In the story a young man (whos like 14) and his little sister (whos like 5 or 6) are orphaned when their mother dies in an American air raid on their village. The rest is very sad if you or anyone else is interested in hearing more PM me and I'll tell you more.
