The problem with nuclear bunkers is , currently, the best defense we have against radiation is extremely thick slabs of metal. They are trying to find a method of making the bunkers that can be afforded and not use up the world supply of metals. To make them we will probably never be completely safe but the radiation leaks could be minimized by distance underground and materials used in manufacturing.

well considering theyv built nukes that can burrow underground before detonating bunkers would not be much use, and no normal person would have access to a very good one anyway, if a'holes just wouldnt keep nukes people wouldnt have to worry about it.
