There aren't that many dark type choices to choose from...so I'm going to agree with you and say Umbreon....the attacks are somewhat effective and he's cool looking.

I'm gonna go with Houndoom. Umbreon can't learn crunch and crunch is one of the best dark moves ever. Houndoom makes great use of crunch.

I agree with vizwiz.
In Platinum I have a level 100 Weavile with awesome moves, ridiculous speed, and claws TO KILL.
It took forever to level up, I went through the E4 like 40 times, nut now it is one of my best Pokemon.
