This came up in my Sociology class a while ago.

If a guy is with a bunch of girls, he is "the man." If a girl is with a bunch of guys, she is a ____. "is with" and ____ are open to your interpretation.


I personally think it's unfair to the girls. That's our society, so there's not much that can be done. I think the guys need to just calm down about it and there wouldn't be as much trouble. My other thought is that the negative feelings about the girls are just rude.

Any thoughts that may or may not be more sophisticated than mine?

Majority seem to think yes that men are cool like that and women s***s like that.

Yet what is more interesting are those kind who choose one side for both - men s***s like that and women s***s like that OR it is a normal behaviour as are we born to monogamy or not. (interesting as how they decide and why)

I say we are not, it's a choice and people should judge less because no one has lived, lives or will live a "perfect" life or live "the right way".

I've encountered that mindset in some people, but for the most part (at least among my circle of friends) men who constantly date around or sleep around and treat relationships like the flavour of the week are considered "man-wh----"

I've always disliked that mind set, specially when it is used in the wrong context. If a guy dates 4 different girls in the time span of 2 months (separately, not at the same time) he's the man. Let a woman try that. I went through a very confusing time in my life, and had 4 completely separate relationships, none of which worked out, over the span of 3 months, and people couldn't stop talking about how much of a s*** I was. I hated it. It's one of those things where the circumstances make it difficult for people to tell the difference between 4 separate relationships and 4 relationships at once. But, that's just my opinion.

These type of stuff people are doing to girls are just wrong. Okay, a man being surrounded by girls is fine, but the other way around, girls are being harrassed by other people just for being with guys, but this is not always true. I use the term caring about appearances to be meaning like; taking forever with hair, and taking hours dissecting themselves to look beautiful. Not the oh, I look like **** I need to freshen up a little bit. There's a difference between what I'm talking about, and routine hygeine.
