This is one of the best Fight Cards I've ever seen from the UFC, and definitely starts 2011 off right. Here are my predictions (or hopes, as some might say) for who will win.
- Torres v. Banuelos: Banuelos has a great ground game, but Torres has near perfect submission defense. I say Torres, possibly by decision.
- Ellenberger v. Rocha: If Ellenberger's cardio is up to snuff, and his submission and takedown defense are good, he can beat Rocha.
- Jones v. Bader: Bader is the odds-n winner in this fight, especially if Jones gasses himself like he tends to do. However, if Jones has been working on his cardio, I can see him pulling off the upset with either a KO or decision.
- Griffin v. Franklin: This is a tough fight for me because I have a lot of respect for both of these fighters. I'm a bigger Griffin fan than a Franklin fan, but history is on Ace's side in this fight. Neither guy gives up, and Griffin's granite chin has pulled him through a lot of tough fights. Franklin can read his opponents very well, though, and if he can make Griffin lose heart at any time in the fight, he'll win.
- Silva v. Belfort: I also despise Anderson Silva, but you can't deny his skill and power inside of the Octagon. He's been voted P4P King numerous times and deserves it, despite his antics in his last few fights. But, if he thinks he's gonna just dance around Belfort like he did with Maia, he'll be sadly mistaken. Belfort is the first man that Anderson is up against who is actually ranked as an Elite in MMA. Belfort's tenacity, power, and striking ability is outstanding, and is what earned him the UFC Light Heavyweight Title a few years back. Unless Silva has gone back to formula and is focused, my prediction is that Belfort will become the new UFC Middleweight Champion.
